When I first met him, I knew I'm very attracted to him. But I couldn't help my standoffish nature, and I blew the chance. I was filled with remorse. My friend gave me a book after I told her about this. It was about improving social skills. I got upset with her for that, I thought she was fanning the flames of it, but as soon as I opened the book, I realised this is what I really needed. And there were so many interesting examples, I couldn't put it down. It even advised me how I can avoid falling into pitfalls in life. Hopefully this will salvage me from bad situations I would run into. 

Buyer's remorse 라는 말은 구매자의 후회 라는 말인데 충동구매 후 죄책감을 느끼는 감정을 설명하는 말이다. 내가 한 행동에 대한 미안한 마음, 슬픈 마음 등이 remorse 라는 단어로 표현된다. 

salvage car 는 복구된 차라고 부르는것 같다.

My childhood was depressing. I was very sick. I would often cry myself to sleep and woke up in the middle of the night having hypothermia. Although I never thought I could live a normal life, thing were looking up as I grew up. I didn't have to abide by strict rule of the medical center. I eased into a regular-looking life. I tried to avoid any topics close to my disease, my friends never talked about it in front of me. No one evem tried to beat around the bush; It was a tacit rule when we hung out. I do still now think about my disease all the same. 

all the same 은 그냥 같다는 뜻 일 것 같지만 앞 문장에 이어 "그럼애도 불구하고" 같은 뜻이 있다. 
ex) It rained every day of our holiday-but we had a good time all the same.

attribute

명사로하면 특징이라는 뜻이다.
ex)  -- is an essential attribute for --

동사로는 원인과 결과를 설명할 때 쓰인다. to 다음에 오는 것이 원인이다.
attribute A to B 라고 쓰이면 A 의 원인을 B 에 근거한다는 뜻이다. 
ex) She attributed her failure to laziness. / The striker attributes the team's success to a positive ethos at the club.
People were beginning to attribute superhuman qualities to him. 

adopt

입양하다, 받아들이다, 새로운 것을 받아들이다
ex) They've adopted a baby girl. / She had the child adopted / early adopter

adapt

적응하다, 조정하다 (새로운 상황이나 조건에) + to
ex) Many software companies have adapted popular programs to the new operating system. 

• break out 발생하다 (전쟁, 질병, 화재 등) / 벗어나다, 탈출하다/ 땀, 발진이 나다
• diameter 지름 [다이아미터]
• unalterable 바꿀 수 없는
• out and out 순전히(= sheer 와 비슷하지만 부정적인 것을 강조하기 위해 쓰임)

My grandma said she wants to break out of the tediousness. The first thing she did was moving. Her new house's arch door has a narrow diameter. Satisfied with the beautiful house, she alleged that she would be find with that and entered into the contract. By virtue of that small door, she wasn't able to carry all the furniture into the house. The door was something unalterable in the house. She now recalls this as an out-and-out disaster she's ever had.

The food we thought it was redundant once has ran out. The leader here said the god made a pledge to rescue us in a few days, but he's been holding that over. As I ran out of patience, I gathered people and suggested my plans to escape. Nobody readily agreed to help. I decided to do it on my own. I kept swimming all night along the cave rim. Endless nigh swim was terrifying and it seemed like I was nowhere near destination. Somehow I got to a land and a couple rescued me. It was nice to be outside. While I had warm meals, concerns about people I left were at the back of my mind. Lack food provision must be the urgent thing there. I had to elicit positive reactions from them and dragged them from there. The soup I had this morning tasted guilt. 

pledge 는 약속이라는 뜻이지만 여기서의 약속은 매우 공식적인 성격을 가진다. 서약, 공약이라던지 돈과 관련된 약속 등

readily 는 ready 라는 단어에서 파생된 것 처럼, 준비가 되어서 빠르고, 문제없이 손쉽게 라는 뜻을 가진 부사가 되었다. 

nowhere 라는 표현은 재밌게 쓰이는데 from nowhere (갑자기) 등으로도 쓰이지만 nowhere near 라고도 자주 쓰인다.

People cope with problems diffenrently. Look out for this case of twin brother and adapt it to your situation. T and A are twins. But their have completely different characters even though they've grown up in the same environment. When they suffer unpleasant situation, T get dejected right off the bat and making jarring noise whereas A harnesses his emotion to get what he wants. It all boils down to what they were born with. Many believe one's peronality forming process incorporates surroundings and environment, but that's not true.

incorporate 는 합병 인수하다 라는 뜻으로만 외웠는데 이미지를 그리는 것이 훨씬 정확하다. 뭔가를 합치고 섞는 그림을 그리는 동사이다. 그래서 회사를 인수하다 합병하다 라는 뜻도 가질 수 있지만 뭔가를 포함하다 가지다 섞다 혼합하다 같은 의미를 가지며 with, into, in 과 같은 전치사와 주로 함께 쓰이는 경향이 있다. 근데 설립하다, 구체화하다 같은 의미도 가지고있다. 원래의 핵심 그림에서 크게 벗어나지 않는다. 뭔가를 설립하려면 여러가지가 혼합되어야 가능한 일이며, 구체화 하기 위해서도 생각따위를 언어에 불어넣어 구체화하는 것이니(?)

harness 라는 단어는 기본적으로 마구에서 비롯되었다. 말에 씌우는 장치같은 것... 말을 활용하기위해 필요한 장치이다. 그래서 효율적으로 활용하다 라는 뜻이 생긴다. 그래서 에너지자원 등을 활용하다, 이용하다 할때 자주 쓰인다. 그러니까 동력을 얻기위해 장치하는 행위를 머릿속에 그리면 된다. 마구를 설치하는건 말의 힘을 이용하기 위해서이고, 댐을 설치하는 것은 수력자원을 얻기위해서이고, 회사에서 목표를 위해서 인력과 아이디어, 사람들의 스킬을 활용하기도 한다. 

boil down to 는 요약하다, 줄이다는 뜻을 가지고 있는데 boil 말 그대로 끓이다는 의미에서 파생했다. boil down,그러니까 끓여서 줄인다는 건데 쫄이는 거다. 계속 끓이면 물은 증말하고 엑기스만 남는다. 그러니까 핵심, 중요한 것만 남게된다. -가 남을때까지 쫄이는 그림, 그래서 요약하다, 줄이다라는 의미가 된다. 현재형으로 많이 쓰인다. it all boils down to~ 이런 형태로..
