  • They must be harmoniously paired with intelligently crafted interfaces in order to succeed.
  • It's then trained by continuously feeding in more data over time, resulting in theoretical improvements, the output is often used to personalize a product: customazing each user's experience.
  • Within the feedback loop, relevant user interactions are tracked as data signals.
  • A well-designed interaction separates signal from noise.
  • That explains the interactions that exist solely to gauge user sentiment - they're useless in isolation but very valuable to algorithms.
  • it utilized its interface to quickly unlock troves of user data for highly competitive content recommendations.
  • The design decision to show only one fullscreen video at a time cleanly localizes all signals on ho content is received.

  • Constraining the scroll interatcion makes it a highly effective interpreter of user sentiment.
  • Awareness of algorithmic gaze is altering user engagement: some people may hesitate to click certain buttons in fear their signals will be misused, while othes may take superflous actions to confuse nosy algorithms.

  • --,---,---, any others I might be forgetting.
  • It comes off a little presumptuous. (z로 발음)
  • He has a flair for color, he has a flair for languages (talent, inclination)
  • This is a good way to weed out companies where product teams just funnel work to design with no real concern for what problem they're actually addressing.
  • When I'm feeling less motivated about UX, I turn to my non-work life to motivate me.
  • Usually when you're brought in as a senior+, they're hiring you for a specific reason.
  • There have been a lot of posts over the past several weeks of people lamenting their careers.
  • While I think that sometimes some of these frustrations can point back to the indivisual, a common theme seems to be poor design leadership in the way of support and advocacy.
  • Leaders getting overly involved in design tasks instead of making designers responsible for their own work.
  • The only time I've wanted out of a good paying gig was when it became obvious to me that the person running the project had zero willingness to manage up.
  • Anytime the person I report to comes back to me several times asking for the impossible after the viable plan has been thoroughly drawn out for them to present to higher ups I know we're in for a shit show and start looking for the exit doors.
  • I think a lot of leaders get into leadership thinking it's just a punch down kind of deal, where they're just there to delegate and do task management for people below them.
  • The road map looks too arduous, so they start cutting necessary steps out but fully expect the same goals to be met.
  • That can be a red herring.
  • I asked about the quality of it, not the mere presence of it.
  • That's less to do with having the piece in place and more to do with having bad actors in the role.

  • What happens when our whole design team dies in horrible car accident and how whoever comes next will be able to execute design on same level as we did.

  • The next designer could be someone who comes in a year from now.
  • That's why I took the time to write a few things down for you in hope to spread awarness.
  • UI is the physical or digital touchpoint between a human and technology. It's to serve the humam.
  • A lot of designers make the mistake in going for pleasant looks and making decisions based on their gut feeling.
  • That approach might lead to a lot of barriers for your users.
  • Is it readable on every device?
  • Appreciate the resources linked, thatnks.
  • It's the most overlooked aspect of UX, and I include myself in the problem.
  • I'm kinda over everyone simplifying accessibility down to contrast ratios and calling it done.
  • I think there's a tradeoff between reach and depth. I can get feedback from a lot of people at the cost of not being able to get very deep information or I can talk to a few people but get a lot of high-value data.
  • One is not better than the other, it just depends on my needs.
  • Swimming against the current here. (stream etc)
  • what knowledge and capabilities they'll bring to the table.
  • We just tweaked an actual client project for our case study.
  • UX has a lot of soft skills and experience mixed-in with hard methods and tools. It's easier to gauge a good fit by having them talk through their thought process.
  • It just doesn't seem right to ask for that much unpaid labor. Just my personal feelings.

  • Hard to put a number on it since it depends on the field you in.
  • There is one additional thing to consider which somewhat counters all that advice: the current market conditions.
  • There is less investment money being thrown around, layoffs are happening alongside hiring freezes.
  • Right now isn't a great time to have a mindset of "-"
  • Don't let X to be so far out of range that they're not going to accept it - be realistic in reflection of the market.
