I'm not gonna settle for second best when it comes to my life-long partner. I see many people just give up and try to find someone to marry, just because it's right timing to move to the next step. If their partner isn't after your own heart, they shouldn't take it to the next level. They might think we need to marry out of necessity, to save up and to build a family, but that's a fallacy, marriage is literally an option. Without a preliminary observation, it will only have adverse effect. Some people end up making it to the court at their wits end after a few years of marriage. If you had a feeling they will be likely a sincere partner, then from that point onwards, open up with them about everything aboveboard, above all.
at one's wits end 는 어떤 사람이 자신의 wit 의 끝, 한계까지 다다라서 뭘 해야할 지 모르고 더이상 방도가 떠오르지 않는 상태라고 생각하면 된다고 한다. 여러 수를 써봤으나 해결이 안되어서 멘붕이 온 상태라고 할 수 있다.

fallacy 는 철학자들이 즐겨쓴다. 논리적 근거 없이 만들어지는 결론을 fallacy 라고 하는데 straw man fallacy, slippery slope fallacy, red herring fallacy 등이 있다.
settle for 이라는 동사가 애초에 받아들인다는 뉘앙스가 강하다. 내가 주도적으로 선택하는 것이 아닌 어쩔 수 없이 합의, 안주한다 이런 뜻이다.
