1. as long as, or so long as

=if , on condition that

오래전에 As long as you love me 라는 노래로 이걸 배운 기억이 있다.

근데 provided 는 거의 처음인 듯 하다.ㅠ

예문) Travelling by car is convenient providing (that) you have somewhere to park.

Provided the room is clean, I don't care which hotel we stay at.

provided, providing 은 둘 중에 뭘 사용해도 의미에는 차이가 없는 것 같다. 주의할 점은 when 절 처럼 미래에 대한 이야기여도 will 을 쓸 필요가 없다는 것.(providing the weather is good, we're going on a picnic.

2. as (at the same time)

​

동시에 발생하고 있는 일을 이야기할 때 사용.

I watched her as she opened the letter.

Can you turn off the light as you go out, please?

We met him as we were leaving the hotel.

just as = exactly at that moment!!

Just as I sat down, the phone rang.

​

** as 와 when 의 사용법이 헷갈릴 수 있다. as는 동시에, when 은 일의 순서가 있다는 것을 기억..!!

3. as (because)

이 경우에도 when 과의 사용법이 헷갈릴 수 있다.

As they lived near us, we used to see them pretty often.

전자는 그들이 우리 근처에 살아서, 후자는 그들이 우리 근처에 살 때

뜻은 솔직히 조금 비슷한거 같긴해서 헷갈리는데 화자의 의도는 명백하게 달라서....... 주의할것!

전치사는 영어 공부를 할 때 가장 헷갈리는 부분 중에 하나다. 유튜브에만 검색해봐도 이 세가지 전치사를 설명해주는 영상이 많음.. 근데 그래머인유즈 121과에서는 관습적으로(?) 영어권 사람들이 쓰는 표현들을 정리해뒀다. 규칙을 찾아보려했지만 딱히 없는 것 같고 책에서도 왜 이 표현에 이 전치사를 사용하는지 설명 없고 그냥 예시만 쭉쭉 나열되어있다. 매일 10번씩 두 달동안 하면 익숙해지지 않을까 ㅠㅠ? 근데 난 그만큼 부지런하지 않다 ㅠㅠ 일단 정리

in the front, in the back

어떤 공간에서의 위치, 사람들의 위치 등등에 쓰인다.

예시- I was sitting in the bacj of the car when we crashed.

Let's sit in the front of the theater.

on the front, on the back

사진,편지,종이 안에서의 위치에 쓰인다.(그냥 사진 편지 종이에는 on 이 아니라 in 이 쓰임;;)

예시- I wrote the date on the back of the photo.

at the top, at the bottom, at the end

위에서 종이의 앞뒷면에는 on을 썼다면 한 페이지 안에서의 위치는 at을 쓴다;

예시- Write your name at the top of the page.
