형용사와 전치사의 조합에 대해 알아보자

 

1. nice/ kind/good/generous/polite/stupid/silly

+ of somebody

이처럼 사람의 성격이나 그런걸 나타낼떄 쓰는 형용사들은 of를 쓴다.

-It is stupid of me to go out without a coat in such cold weather.

하지만 주체와 be동사 뒤에 이 형용사들이 오는 경우

They are nice to me 이렇게 to+대상 이 오게된다.

2. furious/angey/mad/upset

+ about something

어떤 것에 대해 화가났다는 말을 할 때는 about을 쓴다.

​

그런데

어떤 “대상” 에 대해 화가 났을 때는 좀 다르게 말해야한다.

mad AT somebody FOR doing something

upset WITH somebody FOR doing something

furious/angry AT/WITH FOR doing something

까다롭기 그지없다;

​

보통

about + a situation,

with + something you receive, or the result of something

이라고 한다.

​

3. surprised/shocked/amazed/astonished

+ at/by something

​

4. impressed

+ with/by somebody/something

​

5. fed up/bored

+ with something

​

6. OF를 쓰는 형용사들

-afraid, frightened, terrified, scared

-fond, pround, ashamed, jealous, envious

-suspicious, critical,t olerant

-aware, conscious

-capable, incapable

-full, short

-typical

-tired, sick

-certain, sure (about도 가능)

7. good/bad at something

이것은 알고있었지만 better,hopeless 에도 at이 사용가능

​

8. married/engaged

+ to somebody

(하지만 She is married with three children 은 그녀는 결혼했고 애도 3명있다 라는 뜻)

9. different

+ from/than (찾아보니 to도 된다고 함)

​

10. dependent

+ on

(하지만 independent OF)
